GATWICK UNITED signed off for the season by battering Southwick Reds with a four-goal first-half blitz. Producing a display of free-flowing football, United maintained their impressive end to the campaign, taking 10 points from the final five games to leave them fifth in the form table.

It was a performance that had been coming for months. Having drawn to Southwick in the earlier league fixture and endured their singing goalkeeper after losing to them in the cup, Gatwick travelled with a point to prove. And it did not take long to ram it home as Harry broke free and coolly slotted the opener into the corner of the net.
David, who scared the Southwick back line with his incredible pace, then added the second, before JP got in on the act to make it 3-0.
When Casey weighed in with a fourth, it was game over and Southwick were left wondering what had hit them. It was without doubt our most complete performance of the season with the frontline unstoppable and the midfield pairing of Riley and Tommy dominating.
That gave Casey and Stefan free rein to attack down the flanks, knowing the defence of Zak, Finn and Franky would deal with any threat.
Joe, Aaron, Mason, Marc and Jason all came on as subs in the second half and were equally as assured as Gatwick secured a comfortable three points.

Goalkeeper Sam almost put the icing on the cake as he joined the attack in the dying seconds and went close with an outrageous acrobatic scissor kick, leaping like a salmon before landing like an elephant.
Boss Mitch said: “The progress we have made since January and the way we have played has been unbelievable. There is a proper team spirit here and everyone has played their part. We have a squad that is capable 100% of winning this division next season.”
