St Francis Rangers Youth U9 – Gatwick United FC U9
A warm welcome from St Francis Rangers was a great way to start the day.
Gatwick took the back foot in the first quarter with some fantastic play by St Francis to go 3 goals down. Team talk after the first quarter was aimed at boosting the morale of the children. With teams both ready, Gatwick commenced play with more possession and brilliant passing which led to two goals for us which boosted spirits for the team massively. With the score showing just 1 down at half time, Gatwick came back out fighting to bring the score to 1 up, an incredible comeback.
Within the last few minutes of the 3rd quarter, St Francis managed to come back with a shot which was unfortunately deflected off of a defender into the back of Gatwick’s net to make it equal again. With both teams attacking well and playing in a positive manner, Gatwick’s midfield came to the scoreboard with a cracking shot into the top of the net, bringing the final score to 1 up to Gatwick.
After going 3 goals down we fought back to win this game which was another amazing result for both the players and all the parents supporting.
Gatwick’s coaches managed to use a total of 12 players throughout the game rotating the team and every player played their part, working hard and putting in lots of effort. We defended well and also played lots of attacking football. It was a high energy game and there were lots of goals for the fans to cheer.
It was a credit to both teams seeing the children have fun and work hard to battle for their clubs.
